Primorska gospodarska zbornica je z velikim ponosom podelila posebno priznanje g. Robertu Henryju Applebyju, ustanovitelju in predsedniku skupine Titus, za izjemne zasluge pri razvoju in internacionalizaciji gospodarstva v regiji.
Podjetje Titus, ki ga je ustanovil sedanji predsednik skupine Robert Appleby, je začelo kot distributer vijakov za britansko pohištveni industrijo v zgodnjih sedemdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja. Pet desetletij pozneje je Titus globalni akter, specializiran za načrtovanje preciznih komponent in inženirske inovacije. Ima 25-odstotni svetovni tržni delež na področju spojnikov za omare in naraščajoči tržni delež na področju skritih tečajev. Titus ponuja rešitve za dušenje zvoka za gospodinjske aparate in utrjuje svoj položaj kot specialist za večdrsno precizno tlačno litje.
Leta 2006 je Robert Appleby odkupil podjetje Lama in ga vključil v korporacijo Titus. Prepoznal je strokovne sposobnosti zaposlenih v Lami, začutil je proizvodni, logistični in razvojni potencial lokacije v osrčju Evrope. Začutil je tudi potrebe zaposlenih, potrebe okolja in našel sozvočje tako v okolju prijaznem, do delavcev poštenem in do lokalne skupnosti upoštevajočem odnosu, ki že vrsto let prinaša odlične rezultate. Pri tem ima na mizi še številne razvojno naravnane projekte za prihodnja leta.
Gospod Appleby je iz Londona prenesel sedež globalne korporacije v Dekane, v Slovenijo, kar je v našem ekonomskem prostoru prej izjema kot pravilo. Z vključevanjem manjših proizvajalcev v svojo dobaviteljsko verigo je s tem pripomogel tako z zaposlitvi domače delovne sile, kot tudi strokovnemu in človeškemu razvoju zaposlenih. To se kaže tudi v podpori športnih aktivnosti zaposlenih in nesebični pomoči lokalni skupnosti, kadar jo potrebuje. Nenazadnje je bil predsednik uprave Titusa tudi predsednik primorske gospodarske zbornice, Lama in njena naslednik Titus pa je med ustanovnimi člani naše zbornice.

With great pride and gratitude, the Primorska Chamber of Commerce has presented a special recognition award to Mr. Robert Henry Appleby, founder and Chairman of the Titus Group, for his outstanding merit and contribution to the development and internationalization of the regional economy.
Founded by current Group Chairman Robert Appleby, Titus began as a distributor of screws for the British furniture industry in the early 1970s. Five decades later, Titus is a global player specialising in precision component design and engineering innovation. It has a 25% global market share in cabinet connectors and a growing market share in concealed hinges. Titus offers sound dampening solutions for household appliances and is consolidating its position as a specialist in multi-slide precision die casting.
In 2006, Robert Appleby acquired Lama and incorporated it into the Titus Corporation. He recognised the expertise of Lama’s employees, and sensed the production, logistics and development potential of the location in the heart of Europe. He also sensed the needs of employees and the environment, and found harmony in an environmentally friendly, fair-trade and community-minded approach that has been delivering excellent results for many years. He also has a number of development-oriented projects on the table for the coming years.
Mr. Appleby moved the headquarters of the global corporation from London to Dekani, Slovenia, which is more of an exception than a rule in our economic area. By including smaller manufacturers in his supply chain, he contributed to both the employment of the local workforce and the professional and human development of employees. This is also reflected in the support of employees’ sports activities and selfless help to the local community when it needs it. Last but not least, the President of the Titus Management Board was also the President of the Primorska Chamber of Commerce, and Lama and her successor Titus are among the founding members of our chamber.
We have listed just a few reasons why we proudly and gratefully presented the award for outstanding merit and contribution to the development and internationalization of the regional economy to Mr. Robert Henry Appleby.
